This photo is alive with color and implied motion. The face serves a a road map of lines and wrinkles that suggest an interesting life of adventure. The red ribbons on either side of his neck lead the viewer along a reddish face and culminates with a brilliant red turban. Similar pictures often portray a static, pensive man staring into space. This candid approach shows energy and originality -- not to mention authenticity. The red "square" in the background over subject's left shoulder bugs me a little. I would have straightened the image slightly to have a level "horizon." Of course this a minor detail relative to the magnificence of the shot.
